current and past projects
V&B Community Development Services has been working on projects in the Kalamazoo area since 2021. Learn more below about our current and past projects.

Between 2022 and 2024, V&B completed a multi-phase historical rehab on an occupied property in the Kalamazoo Vine neighborhood which includes a historic district.

In 2023, V&B received a MICH Phase 2 grant from MSHDA. The grant made it possible for us to complete six rehabs for eligible households. These rehabs included accessibility additions and energy efficiency upgrades. We were able to provide homeowners with upgraded attic insulation, new air conditioners and furnaces, new windows, flashing doorbells and smoke detectors for a resident who is Hard of Hearing, a security system for a resident with an autistic child who elopes, and upgraded electrical panels to accommodate medical equipment.

V&B collaborates with Room 35 to provide tutoring and test prep for the Residential Builders License exam. For many effective contractors, the questions on the test are written much differently than they would actually come across a problem on a jobsite. For these contractors, a few hours of tutoring and test prep bridges the gap and allows them to pass the test and become licensed.
